On this page;

Main points from the Palestinian twinning network meeting on 31st January (Detailed notes in Arabic being sent to the Palestinian twinning network email list)

Present – reps from Abu Dis, Ramallah, Beit Surik, Kubar, Jenin, Salfit, Battir, Nahaleen, Beit Fajjar

Apologies – Azariyah, Hebron, Sawahreh

Main points

Introduction to each other, building up the network, what we are doing

What exactly we want from twinning –We are a group from many different political groups and are very serious about working together. We want an ending to the Occupation according to the international decisions from the UN and the security council, and so we need the support from all people who want to stand by the Palestinians and we want a focus on ending the Occupation; we are not happy about initiatives which focus on helping Palestinians but don’t mention the Occupation.

Feedback from November 26th conference in London

Preparation for visit in April Draft plan sent to London.

Preparation for conference on April 5th. A long discussion about speakers about workshops. Invitations being sent to many national organisations in Palestine. We are being very careful to involve all political parties. Speakers suggested
- Mayor of Ramallah, welcoming speech
- Speaker from Committee of Islamic and Political Palestinian Parties (this brings reps from all parties together)
- One speaker from British twinning network
- One speaker from the Palestinian twinning network
Workshops suggested
(1) One for new people
(2) Role of twinning committees on both sides
(3) New strategies after 40 years of Occupation
(4) Clarifying understandings about what twinning means

Things to discuss next time;
Women's part of the conference
Visits to Britain and would joint ones work
Environment (request from British twinning network)

Next meeting in mid-February, date to follow.
