TWINNING WITH PALESTINE - Building Bridges not Walls

OBJECTIVES for the day

- To raise the profile of grassroots twinning as a means of acting on human rights issues

- To understand the potential of Britain-Palestine twinning

- To understand where we are now

- To collect action points for the Palestinian side of the network for the next year

- Welcome from the University

- Speaker from the Human Rights Clinic - Urgent human rights issues in Palestine

- Speaker from Britain – the potential of grassroots twinning

- Speaker from Palestine - what is it all about?

10.30 Coffee

11.00 WORKSHOPS – Several, all on same question (a separate one for the British people present)

What is the role of twinning now? Note good points and problems 

12- 1 Afternoon – Twinning films (about visits, about projects together)

1-2 Lunch provided (funding permitting

2-3 Workshops on practical issues, people choose one –

- New twinnings

- Money issues

- Communication issues

- Working across the community

3.30-4 PLENARY: Making the Network work in Palestine. Perhaps to include a proposal from a Twinning Committee meeting beforehand

Collect at least two points that the Network hopes to work on in the next year
